Mary Tavy Parish Council has purchased 100 mugs to commemorate the Queen’s Jubilee. We’d like to distribute them to any child aged 12 years and under who is resident in Mary Tavy parish. If you’re able to attend the Platinum Picnic on the afternoon of Sunday 5^th June at the Coronation Hall, you can collect your free mug then.

If you’re unable to come to the picnic on the 5^th but would like a mug, please contact either Paul Reid () or Bev Ross () and we’ll see how we can arrange delivery or collection.

In truth, it’s been difficult to determine how many children under 12 live in the parish. If we have some mugs left over, older children will be welcome to have one.

Notice of our Annual Parish Meeting, 2022

 

To be held on Wednesday 27^th April beginning at 7pm

Venue: The Methodist Church (Wesleyan Chapel)

Agenda:

• Introduction of parish councillors
• The Chairman’s Report
• The Financial Report
• An informal session to meet councillors and representatives of local organisations, to ask questions and raise any relevant matters

We have invited representatives of these organisations to attend:

• Devon County Council
• West Devon Borough Council
• Police
• Dartmoor National Park
• Mary Tavy Nature and Climate Action Group
• Mary Tavy Parish Council Climate Emergency Working Group
• Mary Tavy Speedwatch Group

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served

Chapel Lane in Mary Tavy will be closed for a period in May 2022 to allow for work by Western Power Distribution.

A diversion will operate via Brentor Road and the A386

The Parish Council recognises that at Christmas, thoughts turn to friends and relatives, including those who are no longer with us.

It is understandable that people may wish to place additional wreaths, pots and flowers on graves over the Christmas period but please would you ensure that they are removed or confined to the area within 12 inches of the front of the headstone after Sunday 16^th January 2022. This is to allow our groundsman to cut the grass.

We appreciate that in previous years it has been necessary to move wreaths and flowers to allow the grass to be cut and that this has sometimes been upsetting. We are keen to avoid any distress by making the above request.

Active Devon’s free festive challenge

Active Devon and the Devon School Games Organisers are hosting a FREE Virtual Festive Family Activity Challenge. The challenge will open at 10.00am on Monday 14 December 2020 until 10.00am on Monday 4 January 2021.
